Rachel Bottomley is a British contemporary painter based in the Surrey countryside, UK. Her textural paintings celebrate the richness and joy of everyday life, through observation, imagination and memories.
Collected internationally, Rachel’s original art is seen and enjoyed everywhere from private homes across America to that of The British Royal Family. She is part of regular gallery exhibitions across the UK and her works are available to purchase through select galleries, directly from Rachel’s studio and via bespoke commission.

Part of Rachel's India Collection, Morning Chai captures a moment she came across while visiting a village outside Udaipur – two men sitting together over a cup of chai, chatting away as they went about their morning. Rachel loved the simplicity of the scene, as well as the colour and pattern in their clothing. It was one of those ordinary, everyday moments she wanted to remember and capture in a painting.

Part of Rachel's India Collection, City Palace Petals was inspired by a beautifully decorated bedroom in Udaipur's City Palace. The room was filled with intricate floral motifs, wonderful patterns and a rich colour palette that Rachel couldn't wait to bring back into her paintings.
Inspired by the decorative details of the room, the painting brings together flowers, colour and pattern in a playful celebration of this beautiful place.
Originally painted to sit alongside Lotus Room, the two paintings share the same inspiration and complement one another beautifully. They look particularly lovely displayed together as a pair.

Part of Rachel's India Collection, Palace Garden was inspired by the beautifully decorated walls of Udaipur's City Palace. The vivid turquoise background and delicate floral motifs were particularly captivating, with flowers and foliage reaching upwards in beautiful, intricate patterns.
This painting brings together some of those decorative details, reimagined through Rachel's own use of colour, pattern and playful composition.

Part of Rachel's India Collection, Market Spice brings together some of the colour, pattern and decorative details that caught her eye during her travels in Udaipur.
The painting features a traditional Indian toran – a decorative hanging placed above a doorway to welcome guests and invite positive energy into the home. The flowers beneath were inspired by a beautiful wall painting, while the colour palette came from a photograph taken at the spice market – rich, earthy spice tones mixed with flashes of colour from the brightly painted doors behind the stalls.
